Ive been meaning to read this book - Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason by Steven Pinker was another book with a similar thesis from a few years back.
It's interesting also that Abundance is generating controversy, people seem to hate on the 'technology will save future problems' narrative. Saw a few artciles and reviews around this last week. I lean to optimism that humanity tends to solve major problems at inflection points.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I have to lean into optimism otherwise what kind of life are you even living. Adding Enlightenment Now to the book list.
A great roundup of cultural events. Interestingly people spending on experiential events is juxtaposed with the booming AI industry. I do get the feeling that it will create a greater class divide, with the wealthy upholding tradition as a signifier of status and everyone else having AI companions and essentially turning into characters from WALL E. A strange world.
